If you're near PHIL in Haarlem on Saturday 12.30, be sure to step inside and be tempted by the famous hard rock riff of Whole Lotta Love. The song was recorded exactly 55 years ago on the album Led Zeppelin II. This afternoon, the riff will be played by none other than Leif de Leeuw, who is almost annually named the best blues(rock) guitarist of the year by the magazine Gitarist. Leif is a big fan of the album and will bring along five records from his own collection that have inspired him. Of course, Joe Walsh and Duane Allman will not be missing. De Leeuw became hooked on the guitar at a young age, starting to play at nine and joining a band at thirteen. The guitar is his means of expression, he said in an earlier interview with Heaven. Leif de Leeuw is one of the leading guitarists in the European guitar scene. He has been named 'Best Blues Rock Guitarist of the Benelux' nine times and has received the 'Best Guitarist Benelux' award twice. With his band, the Leif de Leeuw Band, he has toured across Europe, China, and America. He has collaborated with artists such as Jan Akkerman, Henrik Freischlader, Danny Vera, and John Hayes.

Als je zaterdagmiddag 15:00 in de buurt van de PHIL in Haarlem bent, ga dan zeker even naar binnen en laat je verleiden door de beroemde hardrock riff van Whole Lotta Love. De song werd precies 55 jaar geleden opgenomen op het album Led Zeppelin II. De riff wordt op deze middag gespeeld door niemand minder dan Leif de Leeuw die bijna jaarlijks door het vakblad Gitarist als beste blues(rock)gitarist van het jaar wordt uitgeroepen. Leif is groot liefhebber van het album en neemt uit zijn eigen collectie nog een vijftal platen mee die hem hebben geïnspireerd. Natuurlijk ontbreken Joe Walsh en Duane Allman niet. Al op jonge leeftijd raakte de Leeuw verknocht aan de gitaar, op zijn negende begon hij met spelen en op zijn dertiende speelde hij in een bandje.
