Join us to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the legendary Urban Dance Squad debut album with frontman Rudeboy.
Rudeboy Remington, arguably one of the Netherlands' most influential singer/rappers talks about a Dutch Classic Album. Patrick Tilon, better known as Rudeboy Remington, is a musician best known as the vocalist of the rap rock band Urban Dance Squad. He also provided vocals for the first two albums of Dutch electronic musician Junkie XL, also known as multi-instrumentalist and composer Tom Holkenborg.
In 1989, the Dutch rap/rock band Urban Dance Squad released the groundbreaking album Mental Floss for the Globe, which earned the band an Edison Award and international recognition for combining rock with rap and turntables in a new way, inspiring bands such as Rage Against the Machine.
On the Saturday of the Haarlem Vinyl Festival, we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of this Dutch classic album with frontman Rudeboy, featuring a mix of listening and discussion. We'll delve into all aspects of the legendary debut album, whether it's the single 'Deeper Shade of Soul' or the logo design by artist Peter te Bos (Claw Boys Claw), who later went on to design the Lowlands branding amongst many other things. Patrick Tilon, beter bekend als Rudeboy Remington, is een muzikant die vooral bekend staat als de zanger van de raprockband Urban Dance Squad. Hij leverde ook zang bij de eerste twee albums van de Nederlandse elektronische muzikant Junkie XL, ook wel bekend als multi-instrumentalist en componist Tom Holkenborg.
In 1989 bracht de Nederlandse rap/rockband Urban Dance Squad het baanbrekende album Mental Floss for the Globe uit, dat de band een Edison Award opleverde en internationale erkenning voor het op een nieuwe manier combineren van rock, rap en draaitafels.
