Fuelled by foundation jungle culture. Moved by the melting pot Driven by futurism, eclecticism and those exciting playgrounds between the genres, the eras and the flavours; Yorobi's been deep the laboratory since 99, forever studying the dark art of expression through beats and bass.

Magnetised to the movement through her own mixed heritage roots, her musical vision is one of unity, fusion and no boundaries. Whether it's released on heavily respected labels like Exit and Parallax; whether it's performed at nights such as Rupture London and clubs like OT301 Amsterdam (or any inclusive free rave in between); where it's broadcast on radio stations like innovative new radio platform Echobox or the legendary Jungletrain where she made a name for herself in the mid-2000s; Yorobi's selections and productions consistently create space for tempos, emotions and genres to blur and mutate with tension and release.

Slowly refining her sound and spirit since she first cut her teeth in the underground clubs and pirate stations of Groningen, Yorobi's long-game relationship with the culture has grown in tandem with her artistic life beyond the beats. A multi-disciplinary artist and well-versed art historian and tour guide, Yorobi (real name Josje Bijl) has spent her entire adult life cultivating, exploring, celebrating and documenting centuries of creativity and the cultural contexts that frame and fuel it.

Now fully focused on articulating this wealth of experience through her music, productions are a critical piece in the puzzle. Years of studio incubation have led to an ongoing flow of productions that began in 2019 and refuses to stop to this day. From collaborations with the likes of Tim Reaper and Sun People to solo productions released on labels such as Sneaker Social Club and Repertoire, Yorobi releases reflect everything that's come before and what she wants to see in years to come. Beïnvloed door de smeltkroes, gedreven door futurisme, eclecticisme en die opwindende speelplaatsen tussen de genres, tijdperken en smaken; Yorobi zit sinds '99 diep in het laboratorium, altijd bezig met het bestuderen van de donkere kunst van expressie door middel van beats en bass.

Aangetrokken tot de beweging door haar gemengde afkomst, is haar muzikale visie er een van eenheid, fusie en zonder grenzen. Of het nu wordt uitgebracht op zeer gerespecteerde labels zoals Exit en Parallax; of uitgevoerd op avonden zoals Rupture London en in clubs zoals OT301 Amsterdam (of een inclusieve free rave ertussenin); of het wordt uitgezonden op radiostations zoals het innovatieve nieuwe radioplatform Echobox of het legendarische Jungletrain, waar ze in het midden van de jaren 2000 bekend werd; Yorobi's selecties en producties creëren consequent ruimte voor tempo's, emoties en genres om te vervagen en te muteren met spanning en ontlading.

Langzaam haar geluid en geest verfijnend sinds ze haar eerste stappen zette in de undergroundclubs en piratenstations van Groningen, is Yorobi's langdurige relatie met de cultuur gegroeid in tandem met haar artistieke leven buiten de beats. Een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar, ervaren kunsthistoricus en gids, Yorobi (echte naam Josje Bijl) heeft haar hele volwassen leven besteed aan het cultiveren, verkennen, vieren en documenteren van eeuwen creativiteit en de culturele contexten die het kaderen en voeden.

Nu volledig gefocust op het uitdrukken van deze schat aan ervaring door haar muziek, zijn producties een cruciaal stuk van de puzzel. Jaren van studiowerk hebben geleid tot een voortdurende stroom van producties die in 2019 begon en tot op de dag van vandaag voortduurt. Van samenwerkingen met artiesten als Tim Reaper en Sun People tot soloproducties uitgebracht op labels zoals Sneaker Social Club en Repertoire, Yorobi's releases weerspiegelen alles wat eraan voorafging en wat ze in de toekomst wil zien.
