On Saturday, September 28th, Cristel Ball will once again curate an evening filled with surprising acts. When night falls we welcome European Vampire to the PHIL.
Lorenzo Sutto and Mark Ceiling launched the electronic music project European Vampire in 2018. Blending chill-house vibes with Parisian flair and the energy of the 90s house scene, the duo draws inspiration from the atmospheric worlds of classic Italian cinema and Bowie's Berlin era. Their music weaves these influences into cinematic soundscapes, where each track pulses with a haunting, rhythmic allure.
With lyrics in both French and English, their songs seduce like a predator's call, offering a dark critique of postmodern society. Their work echoes Mark Fisher's dystopian visions, capturing the essence of a world on the brink of self-destruction.
The Taste of Cristel Ball
Cristel is known for her eclectic vinyl sets and deep understanding of different genres and eras, mixing punk with hip-hop and wave without blinking. She also has a great ear for surprising bands and new music. Expect vinyl culture with a twist and a place to discover fresh talent from the Haarlem area and beyond. Last year, we hosted this freely accessible evening in the Jopenkerk, and this year, with the help of our friends at Jopen, we decided to go a little bigger by taking over the PHIL foyer. From Saturday afternoon till midnight, we will top off a day filled with a fantastic program at our central festival location.
