Willem de Bruin is a rapper, musician, theater maker, and actor. You might know him from The Opposites, with whom he has been achieving success after success since 2004, but since 2018, Willem has also been making solo music. His album 'Man In Nood' was released then, a switch for the audience but praised by critics for the way the musician reveals himself. His follow-up album 'Spuug van God' is now out, and he will be performing solo for the first time at Patronaat during the Haarlem Vinyl Festival on Friday, September 27.
With The Opposites, Willem was invincible for years. But after five albums and multiple sold-out tours, The Opposites came to an end in 2014. This was an unexpected turn for Willem, leading to a mental struggle. The press called 'Man In Nood' a 'stunning comeback.' With 'Spuug van God,' Willem also delves deep, taking the listener through his struggle with his dual identity. What does it mean to grow up as a colored boy in a very Dutch village in the polder? Willem now lives in Curaçao but is still regularly in the Netherlands for his work.

Inmiddels is ook opvolger 'Spuug van God' uit en staat hij tijdens Haarlem Vinyl Festival voor het eerst solo in Patronaat op vrijdag 27 september.
Met The Opposites was Willem jarenlang onoverwinnelijk. Tot er na vijf albums en meerdere uitverkochte tournees in 2014 een einde kwam aan The Opposites. Een onverwachte wending voor Willem, die een mentale strijd opleverde. 'Man In Nood' werd door de pers een 'weergaloze comeback' genoemd. Ook met 'Spuug van God' gaat Willem de diepte in, hij neemt de luisteraar mee in zijn worsteling met zijn dubbele identiteit. Wat betekent het om als gekleurde jongen op te groeien in een oer-Hollands dorp in de polder? Willem woont inmiddels op Curaçao, maar is nog regelmatig in Nederland voor zijn werk.
