Dwars door Teylers (Dutch spoken)
Join us and go "Dwars door Teylers!" As part of the Vinyl Festival in Haarlem, guide Jelle will take you on a tour through the unique and sometimes hidden aspects of the collection and rich history of the oldest museum in the Netherlands. Jelle will show you Teylers through both his eyes and ears.
With the convenience of smartphones and Spotify, it's easy to forget how groundbreaking sound recording once was. Take a journey through the historical sound carriers from the 19th century, listening to the voices of Tolstoy and Charlie Chaplin, and end with a live recording on a so-called tinfoil phonograph.
Jelle will give the tour twice a day on each day of the Haarlem Vinyl Festival.
On the day itself, pick up a voucher at the information desk near the Teylers Museum ticket counter (while supplies last). Participation is free, but you'll need a valid entry ticket for Teylers Museum.

Doe mee en ga Dwars door Teylers! In het kader van het Vinyl Festival in Haarlem neemt rondleider Jelle je mee langs de bijzondere en soms onbekende kanten van de collectie en de rijke geschiedenis van het oudste museum van Nederland. Jelle toont Teylers door zijn ogen én oren.
Door het gemak van smartphones en Spotify zou je bijna vergeten hoe schokkend nieuw het opnemen van geluid ooit is geweest. Ga op reis langs de historische geluidsdragers uit de negentiende eeuw en langs de stemmen van Tolstoi en Charley Chaplin om te eindigen bij een live opname met een zogenoemde tinfoliefonograaf.
Jelle geeft de tour 2 keer per dag elke dag van het Haarlem Vinyl Festival.
