Karlyn King is a popular music academic, podcast host, author, lecturer, and researcher who teaches all over the UK and in Nashville (US). Karlyn is about to complete a PhD at the University of Birmingham, exploring the enduring format of vinyl with a comprehensive understanding of popular culture and fan engagement. She has also organised her own research conference called “Identity and Vinyl Culture” and is host and producer of the The Songs Are Spells Podcast with major music industry guests, described by Sony Music as "The magickal version of Song Exploder'.
At the Haarlem Vinyl Festival, Karlyn will be elaborating on her published research on the gendering of vinyl and the modern-day record collector and record store.
